Sincerity

Talk is cheap. We can open up our mouths and say whatever we want. Even more than honesty, sincerity is what gives meaning to our words. Sincerity assumes honesty, or at least honest and good faith intentions. Honesty itself does not assume sincerity.

Sincerity also adds meaning to action. We can go through the motions, or we can act with purpose and intention, and that is based on sincerity.

The true friend is someone who speaks and acts with sincerity. And the true friend is the rare friend. But because sincerity is another invisible force that pervades the Earth, such friends are to be found.

We don’t have time to be true friends to all, but we do know what great support a true friend can provide, and knowing this, we must strive to be true friends in return.

The sincere friends in this world are as ship lights in the stormiest of nights.
